And has an available 404hp 3.0TT V6, and gets a 550hp 4.2TT V8 soon.
One of my Project Managers is looking at getting a “new” car (probably a 1-3 year old CPO) and has been looking at Audi S6s and BMW 550i xDrives. He knows I’m a car guy and asked for opinions and other cars to look at.
I came up with the E550 4matic, but was pretty stumped beyond that on the spot. I’m thinking over the weekend I added the S90 T6 and the CTS V-Sport, although it’s not AWD like the others (something he’d said he would like) Then I remembered the CT6 existed and found out about the 3.0TT and AWD.
The guy is in his mid 30’s and currently drives a Buick Lucerne, so damn near anything will be sporty by comparison.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Kia Stinger GT or the new Genesis thing?

Last model year for E550 sedan here was 2014 - as time moves on, CPO ones will be harder and harder to find.

New or newer CPO 540i.
Also, I’d forgotten the CT6 exists too.

Probably not what he’s looking for, but you can also get the new Continental with a 400hp/400 torque TTV6. They’ve started to pop up CPO. Beyond that, the Jaguars in that class don’t have quite such nice interiors and Lexus doen’t do anything with that much power apart from the GS-F. G80 5.0? Honestly you’ve already named all my top picks.

I compare it to the 540i as well and so does the linked Autoguide article.
Can’t go wrong with CT6, if he can tolerate CUE

My BIL has a new to him CT6, it’s a sharp car. I would drive one. But they haven’t depreciated enough for me yet. It’s as big as my ‘09 S8.

Maybe, but I feel like badging does carry some weight for better or for worse.

I forgot to put the GS-F in the writing above, but it’s on my list for him.

I’d pick the S6 no questions asked if it weren’t for the reliability reputation of Audis.

Those are all pretty good choices- question for you, all of your suggestions are with the bigger engines, does he care about that or no? If not, you can save a fair amount of $$ by going with an E350, 535/540i, etc etc.
I just bought a CPO ‘14 E550 4matic, and love it so far. But they were always rare, and the CPO cars are very hard to find now (12 in the entire country right now), because 2014 was the last year for that engine in the E-class, and most MB CPO’s are 2015+ now. However, the CLS550 is very similar, just has less room in the back seat if he cares about that (or the E400 that replaced the 550 in 2015).
GS-F is very nice - - but pricey. Expect $60k for a CPO car (v. $35-40k for a certified E550).
The CT6 is very nice- might also look at the Infiniti M (available with a V8), or GS350 F-sport (can be bought relatively cheap and very reliable), or the Genesis G80 Sport (very nice car, a bit numb and heavy but way better than a Lucerne)?

Mercedes E43. It might seem overpriced for ‘just’ 400hp, but its interior and the way it drives is just unbeatable.

You never know, worth a mention I think.
